Ani ialah kes indada keraja lain, hehe. This white cat was actually grey, hinggalah trajedi banjir besar dirumah hari atu. Terpaksa lah ia disasah, dan sekarang terserlah warnanya yang sebenarnya! Lihatlah betapa sukahatinya dia bermain-main dalam video ini. Untuk pengetahuan bersama, kucing ini adalah milik Edot.

Pada malam Isnin 10hb Disember 2007 yang lalu, banjir besar telah melanda rumah Gadong, dan beberapa kawasan sekitar BSB dan Daerah Brunei Muara, disebabkan oleh hujan yang sangat lebat dan air pasang.

Baik jua sempat menyelamatkan kebanyakan barang-barang berharga, dan Nini pun terpaksa diangkat keatas untuk tidur malam atu, kerana dibawah semuanya basah. Air hanya surut pada sekitar pukul 1 atau 2 pagi, ngalih menimba dan menyapu air keluar hingga ke Subuh.

Liat saja tia video atu, Pamit mencari makan kerana kelaparan, dan belurih lauk goreng.

Sorry for not updating the blog for over a month. Sibuk puasa bah, hehe.

Anyway, Raya is finally here, so I would like to wish everybody a very Happy Hari Raya!

Hectic first day Raya at home as usual, it happens every single year. Non-stop visitors from morning till evening. Taken some pictures (more like 200 pictures from my camera alone!), and I have put them up in the Web Album, so check them out.

Majlis Menghantar Tanda

It has been a while since I posted anything here, and I just noticed that there were no postings in August! Sorry guys, but I really appreciate if any one of you in the family circle who could help me in this matter.

Anyway, the latest happening was Majlis Menghantar Tanda for Ijul. Our reporter, my own very self, reports :) :



Pada petang hari Jumaat 7hb September 2007 bersamaan dengan 25hb Syaaban 1428 telah berlangsung majlis menghantar tanda bagi Mohd Azizul Amir dengan Era Suhana.

Alhamdulillah, majlis telah berjalan dengan lancarnya dengan sebuah bas rombongan lelaki menuju kerumah keluarga perempuan, lengkap dengan empat biji gangsa membawa cincin sebentuk, wang hantaran serta persalinan. Rombongan lelaki diketuai oleh Tuan Haji Samad Sidin.

Yet Another Birtday - Siti Mastunah

Macam indada activity lain saja dirumah ah, lots of birthday people especially in July! Kali ani we had a not so suprise birthday celebration for Siti Mastunah. Hehe, cemana jua kan surprise birthday, mun makanan ampai-ampai, hahaha!

Anyway, as usual, mana pandai tinggal camera phone nya Siti atu, orang sibuk-sibuk dengan kek harijadinya, kedia sibuk mengambil gambar. Biasa lah Siti bah tu, raja gambar.

Mari Membuat Kelupis

Pada malam sebelum majlis harijadi Enoi telah berlangsung satu acara mengelupis. Sila perhatikan rajah diatas bagi aksi-aksi pembuatan kueh tradisi tersebut. Kelupis ani boleh kosong, boleh jua simpan inti. Kalau kan mau nyaman, makan masa ia panas-panas.

Three Layer Tea

This is a nice cold drink especially for summer! Careful to those who can't take milk though. Here are the things you need :

Gula melaka syrup (or brown sugar syrup)
Evaporated milk (naik harga sudah!)
Strong tea (preferably teh tarik stuff)
Lots of ice

How :
Get a nice tall glass, and fill it up with ice. Pour in the gula melaka syrup first (depending on how sweet you want it to be), and add an equal amount of milk. Lastly, pour in the tea slowly to get the layered effect.

Mix it well before you drink, unless you want to drink 3 different liquids! Hehehe! Have a go and enjoy your 3-Layer Tea!

House Warming for Acoi

Acoi finally got a convenient place to stay. It's in Kiulap near RIPAS. We had Maghrib & Isya jemaah prayers last nite terus tahlil. Good to see families & relatives from both sides attending & warming up the new home. Good luck with the cleaning Acoi!

By the way, I took these panaromic photos using my phone. Quality just ok, but it gives a wide-screen view of what's happening.

Happy Birthday Mamit

As mentioned earlier, it's Mamit's turn to celebrate her birthday on 20th June. The plan to surprise her didn't work, probably because it was already celebrated by her colleagues at work. Bangas kali sudah when she got home from work. Anyway, we enjoyed the Mango Cheese cake, it looked pretty and it tasted really good, lama sudah inda makan. Happy Birthday again Mamit!

Happy 1st Anniversary

I was browsing through the old postings and I discovered that this blog is already more than a year old! The first posting was uploaded on 3rd June 2006. Gosh, time really flies. I have about 48 postings (single-handedly done by myself, nada support eh!), atu pun kira kes malas!

Anyway, to the regular visitors & readers (you know who you are) thanks a lot. Keep reading & keep visiting, walaupun inda seberapa blog ani. As I said in the first posting, it's meant to be a way to keep in touch amongst family members, relatives & friends.

Mencungkil Ambuyat

This was last Thursday. An unplanned feast of Ambuyat and its condiments. In case anyone is curious, Ambuyat is a traditional Brunei delicacy (can also be found in Sabah & Sarawak). The Ambuyat is made from sago. To prepare it, freshly boiling water is added to ambulong (ambuyat in its powder form) and it would become a starchy substance. We usually use Candas (malay version of chopstick) to cungkil (pick) the Ambuyat, dip it in your favourite dip/sauce (usually something sweet & sour). It's an acquired taste, but once you like it, you will forever like it. The fun bit is to eat it with a group of people while it's hot!

Another Birthday!

Less than a week later (after Intan), it was Nasir's turn to have his birthday bash. Supposed to be a quick & simple celebration, tapi penuh jua meja with food! The nasi ayam was nice, to those outside Brunei, jangan teseliur ah, hehe, I was kind enough not to put up the snaps of the food we had that night. Jangan marrraaahhh!

Selamat Hari Jadi Intan

The family celebrated Intan's birthday last Friday 4th May with a barbeque & steamboat at family home Gadong. You can see her big grin with all the presents she got. Happy 'Jazzy' Birthday Intan! Get your driving license soon, and belanja kami di Pizza Hut saja. A year older, a year healthier!

The Making of Seri Muka

Do you know what Seri Muka is? It is a traditional Brunei / malay sweet delicacy. Seri Muka literally means The Glow of the Face.

This delicious kueh has two layers. The bottom layer is made from rice, cooked in coconut milk with pandan leaves to induce a wonderful aroma. The top part is made from rice flour mixed with coconut milk too, and would usually be added with green food colouring. This layer is sweet, while the lower rice layer has the distinctive 'lemak' taste.

The photo collage does not really show the proper sequence, but it gives a good idea on how this wonderful kueh is made. It would probably take 2-3 hours from preparation until it is fully cooked. The Seri Muka has to be steamed for about 45 minutes, and you have to wait for it to cool down for a while before you can savour it!

Siti Aminah celebrated her birthday yesterday Friday. Her birthday actually fell on Thursday 25th January, 2 days after Mamoi birthday, 2 days before Uncle Jini. Well, rasanya kurrrreng, so the chief cooks (awu, banyak tangan, perhatikan rajah 4) decided to add more bahan-bahan perisa seperti kicap masin & manis, more kacang tumbuk, gula (white & brown), garam dan sosnya lagi. In the end, it tasted a bit better than mula-mula.

A supposedly small Tahlil for our late Mother/Grandmother was held today at 12pm, but more guests turned up than expected. Alhamdulillah, food was more than enough.
